As we ventured into our front porch renovation, we decided our white wicker patio chairs and a table needed a little love. The set was handed down to us from Tyler’s family and hasn’t gotten much use (partially thanks to the wasps living behind our porch shutters). We decided to pick up some spray paint and give our porch chairs a totally new look!
We started off by washing the table and chairs with some brushes and soapy water.
After a day of drying, it was time to spray paint! We went with a black, semi gloss Rust-Oleum spray paint.
Word to the wise, as we’ve never spray painted wicker furniture before… We will probably use a primer next time. The paint didn’t adhere as well as we would have liked it too and tends to chip a little bit.
**UPDATE 6/2020**
Our chairs are holding up fairly well, but are pretty chippy with rinsing! I would definitely suggest using a primer spray!
It took several days of painting light layers and drying before we were happy with the coverage. We applied an enamel coating to help with the chipping.
The black totally transformed this wicker patio set, giving it a nice updated look and ties in well with our black front door!
As you can see, our porch shutters still need to be painted. We are planning on using the left over black paint from our front door. Oh, and then there’s the rotting porch posts… If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve seen the rotting up close and personal on our stories. More to come in our porch renovation series!
I just spray painted my porch wicker Set, it looks stunning
Amazing! ?? A little paint can make a huge difference!
