Are you as surprised as we are? It’s true- we moved! And we are SO happy!! We’ve had so many questions regarding our decision so, I thought I’d have a little heart to heart with you guys. Let’s just get right into it!
Where did you move?
Same area- same city, even! We love being near our families and this place feels like home.
When did you move?
We closed on our new house just last week! And our old house is currently on the market. We moved just enough into the new house to sleep and function, but all of our large furniture is still at the old house acting as “staging” for prospective buyers!
Why did we move?
To put it simply, we had too much. Too much house, too much yard, too much time and money spent… We try our best to be aware when something is taking too much of our resources, and not just in time and money, but energy, attention, space in our brains, etc. That’s where we were at with our old home. It’s a beautiful home, with a nice yard, lots of space, a great location… and yet, we weren’t happy because we were stretched thin.
Tyler and I both love house projects. It’s our thing. Our family and friends know if they need help, opinions, advice- we’re raring to go. But it’s not our only thing. We have a young family to play with, make memories with, and protect. We just weren’t able to do that as well as we’d like to in our old place. Maintaining a big house and a big overgrown yard takes up a lot of those resources I listed above. We would rather, at least at this point in our lives, spend our weekends at the zoo or building something cool than pulling weeds and cleaning three bathrooms.
I truly believe that God put it on our hearts (even long before now); that we needed something different. We decided to lay it down and see what was in store for us. So we’re feeling pretty vulnerable right now with a new home and another on the market, but I think that is a pretty cool place to be and to grow!
Let’s see the new house!
We moved from 2,800 square feet to 1,400 square feet (!). It has been a process. Let me tell you. There are a lot of logistics to selling your home, in general, but downsizing by half… Some things just have to go! Our new home is very “bare minimum” right now as we sell our old home and process what’s staying and what’s going.
Here are a few very fresh photos from our move. You’ll see a lot more of this place in the coming years. We have a lot of plans to make it our own and have already had a lot of fun installing new shades, pulling up carpets (to find hardwood underneath!!), and exploring the neighborhood. This new adventure will certainly be different but it feels good to take a leap of faith!
Thanks for sticking with us! We love that you’re here! <3 If you have any questions about our move or downsizing, feel free to leave a comment! I always reply!
