Organizing is really “on trend” right now, which is kind of my dream come true. Bins, baskets, drawers… These are a few of my favorite things. The only problem with trendy things is the inevitable markup. Organizers are so expensive- it can be nearly impossible to make a dent in your project without a major investment. I decided to try a couple of the more affordable products I could find on Amazon to help my parents organize their new kitchen!
My parents recently moved to a new house with a galley kitchen. Their small pantry is down the hall and around the corner, so they need to store their most-used items in one of the kitchen’s upper cabinets. This is how it looked when they moved in.
My parents are not really the “label a basket and keep it all where it goes” kind of people (I can’t blame them for my nutty behavior). Plus, they don’t cook from scratch very often (they’re free bird empty nesters now :-P), so their collection can be quite random. They’re the perfect candidates for clear bins which allow them to see exactly what’s in every bin so that pantry items don’t get lost in the shadows. These clear bins are the just the right depth (9.5 inches) for upper cabinet shelves and wide enough to fit four 14.5 oz cans.
While the bins could be a little thicker, they’re not flimsy at all and can easily be moved with one hand- even with the weight of four cans. The pack I ordered came with 8 bins for $25.99 which breaks down to about $3.25 per bin! You can find them on Amazon here.
Next up are are two large drawers under the pantry cabinet. Upon moving in, all of the spoons, spatulas, coozies, and scrapers got dumped into these drawers. I LOVE these drawers because they are huge and amazing for storage, but they need a little direction. Expandable drawer organizers are perfect for this application. These spring-loaded dividers are heavy duty and well-made. There is a foam grip on either end that holds the divider in place and the position can be adjusted any time. Here is the sad pile of utensils before… (Yes, that’s a knife back there. Yikes!)
…and after!
And this overflow drawer before and after.
I was able to fit so much more in these drawers by separating the items by categories! The bamboo dividers are sturdy and honestly feel way nicer than I was expecting. They are sold in a pack of 6 for $35.99 (about $6.00 per divider). You can find them on Amazon here.
Hope you enjoyed these Amazon finds! Organizers are my weakness. Check out more of our favorite things here!
