Our house was built in the 1960’s with all the quirks and character of the era, including an open square kitchen with a dividing half wall. The wall was positioned right in front of the two most high traffic areas in our house- the fridge doors and the pantry doors. Needless to say, it was tight and it wasn’t working.
We came home from vacation this summer and, on a whim, decided to demo the wall and see what happened. While there were some surprises along the way, like realizing the hardwood floors didn’t continue under the wall (should have seen that coming), the open feel was THRILLING.
